Dili Immanuel Church holds an online Bible study meditating on the message of God from the book of Romans 1:18-32 title, “The Wrath of God”

During the Bible study, it was shared that God’s purpose for creating mankind is for love. God wants to share His love with man therefore He created all living creatures and give breathe to everything that has life. However, because of man’s disobdience, the perfect relationship between man and God was broken. 

The passage describes why God rightfully condemns humanity and some of what He has done about it. Humanity’s fall is pictured as a downward progression. It starts with rejecting God as creator, refusing to see what can be known about Him by what He has made. Man also reject that He is the provider and stop giving Him thanks. Man worship His creation instead of Him. Finally, God acts by giving over to the unchecked expression of the corrupt sexual desires and all other kinds of sin. In part, He expresses His wrath by giving us what we want and condemning us to suffer the painful consequences.

God lets the man seek his own will. This is not because our God no longer cares for us or loves us, but because  He doesn’t want to force his children to love him back. He wants his children to come and seek Him with their own willingness. This wrath of God is not a wrath because there is no love anymore. But it is a wrath of a Father towards his son who wants to run away from him.

But, the story of man and God’s relationship does not end there. Because of the unconditional love of God towards man He made a way for His children to be saved from drowning in the sinful life. Because of His love he sent his one and only son Jesus Christ not to judge the world, but to bring salvation. This is an expression of God’s incredible love. However, those who do not believe in Jesus Christ are condemned in the eyes of God. Human preference for sin causes many to choose darkness over the Light.

The student shared, “I learned from the passage about God and more about God. I also learn how he always loves us and always make a way for us to reach us out.”
